Publication of "Transgender Rights" to be Celebrated
Books Writers and Editors at January 30 Reception

On January 30th, five major organizations for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities in Massachusetts will host a celebration of Transgender Rights, the first comprehensive work on the transgender civil rights movement.

The event will feature local contributors Jennifer Levi and Bennett Klein, attorneys with Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders, co-editor Richard M. Juang of the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition, and Taylor Flynn, professor at Western New England College School of Law. Also speaking will be co-editor and contributor Shannon Price Minter, legal director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights and a founding board member of the Transgender Law and Policy Institute.
 
Transgender Rights, published by the University of Minnesota Press,examines crucial topics such as family law, employment policies, public health, economics, and grassroots organizing. 

The event is sponsored by AIDS Action Committee, Somos Latin@s LGBT Coalition, Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders, the Massachusetts Lesbian & Gay Bar Association, and the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition.
