GLAD Announces Six New Board Members

Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders, New England's leading legal rights organization dedicated to ending discrimination based on sexual orientation, HIV status and gender identity and expression, announced the addition of six new members to its board of directors:

Sandy Anderson is Vice President of Marketing and Sales Support at IDX Systems Corporation in Boston, now part of GE Healthcare.  She started as an installation and support representative at IDX in 1987.  In her current position, she provides strategic direction to drive revenue and market share through new business initiatives, product management and marketing.

Jo Davis, MSW, works as a senior vocational counselor at the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission in Roxbury.  A longtime community activist, she has been a board member at the Women of Color AIDS Council (as President), Parents and Children’s Services, and New England Home for Little Wanderers.

Wilbur Herrington is a management consultant whose work focuses on diversity and organizational development. He was one of the first members of the Diversity Office at Lotus Development Corporation, and is the former board chair of the Topf Center, a dance organization that uses dance to foster self-esteem and interracial understanding among adolescents.

Jane Hiscock is a producer with Tapestry Networks, a business-to-business company that convenes organizational leaders to work on economic, social, and organizational change. She is a longtime management and marketing professional specializing in health care.  As a volunteer, she recently headed up the Boston Immigration Group for Lesbians and Gays (now known as Immigration Equality).

Dianne R. Phillips is partner in the Boston office of Holland + Knight, where she practices regulatory, energy, and environmental law. She co-chairs the firm’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Workgroup, whose mission is to develop and promote GLBT lawyers. The group has participated in GLBT-focused activities such as pro bono representation of HIV positive asylum seekers and leading the firm to sponsor the annual Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network "Respect Awards".

Charles Latovich is the Diversity Communications Manager of the Bank of America in Boston, where he develops and implements the diversity communication strategy for the bank and its employees nationally and serves as a resource on diversity in the corporation. He has conducted corporate training in diversity issues, organized events to promote cross-organizational collaboration and consulted within the organization on diversity strategies and goals.

"We're thrilled to add such diverse expertise and experience to our board," said Johanna Schulman, GLAD board chair.  "During this historic and challenging time, GLAD is truly fortunate to have a Board whose talented and hard-working members are so committed to GLAD's vision of equal justice under law."
